Denise Barry
Performance Nutritionist
Denise received her Bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Science from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo. She then pursued her credential in the area of Dietetics. During this time she gained knowledge and experience while working at private clinics, hospitals, schools and public health agencies. She passed the National Boards Examination in 2006 qualifying her as a Registered Dietitian.
Denise’s passion for nutrition began at a young age as a competitive gymnast and nationally-rated Irish dancer. Her dedication to fueling her body properly helped optimize her performance which led her to want to educate others and assist them in reaching their fitness and nutritional goals.
Denise joined the Core Performance Center team in May of 2008. Prior to this, Denise worked at The Life Balance Centre in Santa Barbara working with patients of all ages helping them to optimize their overall health. She specialized in working with food intolerance, yeast and bacterial overgrowth and digestive issues. She also focused on hormonal conditions such as adrenal stress, diabetes, thyroid imbalances and their impact on an individual’s weight, energy levels and overall quality of life.
Denise also has experience in the health and fitness industry developing nutrition programs at multiple health clubs on the Central Coast. She worked one-on-one with clients and assisted personal trainers with weight loss programs.
Denise is committed to working closely with each member to ensure proper nutrition for optimal performance while also helping them to reach their personal fitness and nutritional goals. She will be developing individualized meal and supplement plans for every member along with monitoring body composition to track progress. Denise will also be educating members and developing strategies to ensure success in achieving their long term goals.
