Losing weight can help overweight and obese people improve their sleep quality, according to a new study [PsychCentral.com].

Researchers at John Hopkins University studied 77 people who were either overweight or obese and had pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes. They were split into two groups. One group went on a diet and exercised, while the other group only dieted. Participants filled out a sleep survey at the beginning and end of the study.

At the end of the study, both groups were found to have lost an average of 15 pounds and 15 percent belly fat. They also reported 20 percent improvement in sleep quality.
