Q & A: Too out of shape for an adult sports league?

Q: My kids play soccer and some of the parents are putting together a league. I’m totally out of shape. Should I give it a try or get in better shape and sign up next year? – Ashley B.

A: Give it a shot and play now. We have a tendency of pushing things off to a later date and never actually getting to it. If you are indeed “totally out of shape,” as you put it, then participating in a soccer league certainly could lead to injury, so start slowly and proceed with caution. Use this new stimulus as a trigger to get moving more every day. It may be just what you need to get back in great condition.
