While your gym time is still an important part of your fitness routine, adding some outdoor activity can help enhance your wellbeing, according to a new study. Researchers from Glasgow University found that enjoying outdoor activities like running, biking, or walking may help improve mental health [HuffingtonPost.com].

Researchers analyzed data from 2,000 participants in the 2008 Scottish Health Study. They found that people who worked out in green space surrounded by trees and grass were 50 percent more likely to have better mental health compared to people who didn't exercise outside. The mental health benefits included improved sleep, reduced stress levels, and decreased mild depression.
