ESPN's Ken Lawrence writes that David Moyes, manager of England's Everton soccer club, has adopted an "American way" to keep his team and his sanity together.
Moyes, whose squad has been battling financial and injury woes, brought in performance specialists Steve Tashjian and Scott Piri from Athletes' Performance, wanting to use the same methodology that helped bring Germany to the 2006 World Cup semi-finals, to get maximum performance out of his club. Carl Crawford Credits Athletes' Performance for his Success

Carl Crawford, the Tampa Bay Rays' left fielder, has had a strong career since joining the majors in 2002. He's lead the league in stolen bases four times, been selected to three All-Star teams, and was even selected as the MVP of the 2009 All-Star game.
Crawford told the Washington Post that training at Athletes' Performance in Arizona prior to 2002 helped him get to where he is today:
"It started clicking for me when I started training differently. I had all the ability to reach the big leagues, but I didn't understand a lot about the proper way to work out and condition my body for baseball. When I started training differently, that's when I became the player I am today."

New Study Aims to Reduce Firefighter Injuries, Save Lives

Think your training regimen is crucial for your ability to do your job or perform better? Consider firefighters. Trained to run towards danger, firefighters are constantly putting themselves in high-risk situations, and that risk is only magnified by injury or poor movement.
Athletes' Performance recently collaborated with the Pensacola Fire Department, the University of Waterloo and the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine to help reduce firefighter injuries, and ultimately, help save lives. (Read today's press release here.)
While the research study is just getting underway—it began in April—it has potential to save lives and help improve health and safety for firefighters as well as individuals in other occupations.
