Slurping some chicken soup may help lower high blood pressure, according to a new study in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. It’s the collagen in chicken meat, say the scientists, that acts in a similar fashion to ACE inhibitors, blood pressure meds.

The poultry parts with the most collagen: chicken legs and feet. So stir up a batch of homemade soup yourself, but leave salt out of the recipe, which can cancel out any BP-lowering benefit. Or try one of these chicken dishes. Just remember to substitute legs in for thighs and ditch the salt.
