Fight Off Memory Loss

At a loss for words? Having a hard time understanding something? Save your brain from aging with the help of vitamin D, a proven mental health aid.

When compared to adults with the highest levels of vitamin D, those adults lacking in vitamin D more than double their risk of age-related memory loss and impaired understanding, according to scientists in the U.K. and the U.S.

Their joint study, which was published in the Journal of Geriatric Psychology and Neurology, is an eye opener since one in three adults over age 65 will suffer from dementia.

You can boost your vitamin D intake by consuming oily fish, eggs, and those foods fortified with vitamin D—like milk and cereal.

Another mental magic trick: Regularly keeping calm and relaxed through life’s speed bumps will cut your risk of dementia in half, according to a second U.K. study published in the journal Neurology.
