Q & A: Pre-workout Snack for Early Risers
Q: I work out at 5:30 am right after I wake up. I have breakfast after my workout. What would be a great pre-workout snack or shake? --Lauren, Yarmouthport, MA
A: There are lots of possibilities. Here are a five to get you going:
- A banana with peanut butter.
- A bar with about 10 grams of protein and 30 grams of carbs (Myoplex lite, Clif Builder Bar).
- Chocolate milk
- A couple pieces of toast with peanut butter
- Or a Mark Verstegen favorite—1/2 scoop vanilla whey protein with eight ounces of orange juice
