Q&A: Eat Smart, Save Money

ralphbijker / flickr

Q: I'm a single guy training for the pro tennis tour. I don't have a lot of money to spare, but I'm trying to "go by the book" as far as your nutrition goes. Is there anything I can do to not spend a fortune at the grocery store? – Cheyenne, Chicago, IL

A: You can build your meals so that they rotate every two or three days. In other words, build three breakfasts, three lunches, three dinners, and six snacks, and repeat them for the week. This way you can shop for only those items at once and you'll be less likely to spend additional money since you're limiting your shopping trips and preparing meals in advance. Just keep in mind that variety is important in making sure that you get all the vitamins and minerals your body needs.
