Q&A: Feeling Too Full With Creatine

jasonatennui / flickr

Q: In addition to starting a Core Performance program, I've started the loading phase of a creatine supplement called Cell-Tech, and I've tried to stack Cell-Tech with Nitro-Tech. It fills me up so much that I either don't feel good, or I don't feel like eating anything else.  How can I fix this? — Ryan, Santa Fe, NM

A: Spread out your supplements to avoid feeling too full. Try this schedule:

  1. Before your workout, down a drink with 10-20 grams of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs). So you might have some EAS Whey Protein Isolate with BCAA's and juice.
  2. 20 minutes before the end of your workout or first thing in the morning, take five to seven grams of creatine (like EAS Phosphogen HP Elite).
  3. Follow your workout with a post-workout recovery mix such as Myoplex Deluxe.

This supplementation pattern gives your body the nutrients when it really needs it. Before starting any supplement program, you should consult with your physician.
