A new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that swapping carbonated beverages for water leads to weight loss. Researchers followed 318 obese people over six months and found that those who switched two 8-ounce, 200-calorie beverages a day for water or other non-caloric beverages lost an average of five pounds.
