One Small Change
Convincing Your Boss to Let You Nap at Work
Today, I’m going to show you how to convince your boss to allow you to nap at work. That’s correct. If you carefully follow these instructions, you will enter the elite company of gentlemen like SEC Chairman Christopher Cox who actually got paid for sleeping.
Commiserate with your boss about the dire state of the economy and how everybody must learn to be more efficient. Shake your head often.
State that you know a simple, proven way to significantly increase productivity that will not cost the company anything.
Explain that such respected and successful companies as Google, Nike, Union Pacific and British Airways, to name a few, all encourage their employees to take short, restorative naps during the workday. Some, like Google, even provide special napping rooms.
Propose that you become the company’s guinea pig – that you be allowed to nap for 15 minutes every day in a suitable location. This napping time will come out of your lunch hour or replace one of your normal breaks. If, after the course of a week or two, your productivity and quality of work doesn’t improve, then you’ll simply revert to your usual routine. There’s nothing to lose.
