If you spend your days crisscrossing an office building, here’s another reason to hit the staircase instead of the elevator—it’s quicker! A new study in the Canadian Medical Association Journal analyzed hospital workers as they traveled from floor to floor throughout a typical workday. Interestingly, the researchers concluded that taking the stairs took just over 13 seconds per floor, on average, while the elevator took around 36 to 38 seconds (including the time spent waiting for it to arrive).

Americans eat 70 percent of the daily recommended intake of grains, proteins, fruits, and veggies only two percent of the time, according to a new study by the NPD Group. Researchers found that the average person ate too much or not enough, ate too many unhealthy foods or not enough of the right foods 358 days a year, only following the USDA recommended diet seven days a year.

Survey Says: CFOs Believe Wellness Initiatives Boost Productivity

New results from the Integrated Benefits Institute’s 2011 CFO Survey found that 69 percent of CFOs believe that promoting healthy behaviors is a company priority. The survey also found that 80 percent of CFOs participate in health care benefit decisions and collaborate with executive leadership, human resources, and operations.
