Americans Eating Healthy Only 2 Percent of the Time

ChooseMyPlate.gov

Americans eat 70 percent of the daily recommended intake of grains, proteins, fruits, and veggies only two percent of the time, according to a new study by the NPD Group. Researchers found that the average person ate too much or not enough, ate too many unhealthy foods or not enough of the right foods 358 days a year, only following the USDA recommended diet seven days a year.

“We can begin to turn these statistics around if more companies start offering healthier options at work,” says Kris Bio, Core Performance director of nutrition. “Instead of eating healthy seven days a year, Americans can start achieving at least one balanced meal per day and improve from there.”
