Drop Shuffle to Sprint - Soccer

Starting Position

  • Base position

Procedure

  • Shuffle backwards on diagonal changing directions every few steps for a predetermined distance and then dropstep into acceleration

Coaching Keys

  • Keep feet apart
  • Accelerate with perfect posture and body lean with feet driving back and down
  • Open inside leg hip, as same elbow punches behind body, then drive foot down and back behind hips during dropstep
  • Accelerate with perfect posture and lean, driving feet down and back
  • Alternate direction of dropstep with each repetition

  • Throughout the entire body

Variation

  • Initiate change of direction on shuffles based on visual or auditory cue
  • Initiate dropstep based on visual or auditory cue
