Pop / Float Skip - Vertical

Starting Position

  • Skipping in place with arms bent at 90 degrees

Procedure

  • In skipping pattern, land almost simultaneously on both legs
  • Drive hard and fast off the lead leg for height by extending through your hip, knee and ankle

Coaching Keys

  • Maintain excellent posture and stability during movement and landing
  • Anticipate the ground, driving hard and fast off the ground with your lead leg to minimize time on the ground and to maximize vertical force
  • Provide a forceful arm drive to assist with hip extension

You Should Feel It

  • Working your torso, hips, and ankle to stabilize the aggressive change of direction upon foot contact
