Russian Twist - Bench with Dowel

Starting Position

  • Straddling a bench, squeezing it with the inside or your thighs
  • Leaning back to 45 degrees, with a dowel on your shoulders, gripping it with both hands in a comfortable shoulder position

Procedure

  • Keeping hips still, rotate shoulders and trunk to the right
  • Return to start position and repeat to other side
  • Repeat for prescribed number of repetitions

Coaching Keys

  • Keep hips facing straight ahead
  • Sit tall, maintaining good pillar position during movement
  • Keep stomach tight
