Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 32 oz marinara sauce
  • 3 oz mozzarella cheese
  • 2 oz bread crumbs
  • 1/4 red pepper
  • 2 tbsp red onions
  • 2 1/2 tbsp grated Parmesan
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 6 cups whole wheat pasta (cooked)

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Combine 1 pounds of lean ground turkey, 8 ounces of marinara sauce, 3 ounces of mozzarella cheese, 2 ounces of bread crumbs, 1/4 of a red pepper (diced), 1/2 tablespoon of grated Parmesan, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of pepper into a bowl.
  3. Roll turkey mixture into 2-ounce meatballs.
  4. Place meatballs on a baking sheet lined with tinfoil and sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
  5. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes. 
  6. Cook 6 cups of pasta as directed on package.
  7. Split the pasta between plates, top with meatballs (2 per plate), and garnish with marinara sauce and grated Parmesan cheese.
